Africa Chair by Tacchini
The Tacchini Africa Chair, a version of the original design by Afra and Tobia Scarpa, shows off the expressive nature of wood through its unique sculptural shape. Drawing on traditional cabinetmaking techniques, the frame is finished with Canaletto walnut veneer to bring out the wood’s natural richness. The backrest is made from a single piece and shaped into two mirror-image sections, with careful hand-finishing that reveals different wood essences and subtle changes in colour. There is a distinct gap between the backrest and the rear legs, which adds to the chair’s visual lightness and flexibility and gives it its typical totemic outline.

The Africa Chair is especially suitable for interior spaces where craftsmanship and the character of the materials are important; the sculpted backrest and the well-built frame give it a strong visual presence, while the warmth of the walnut adds a natural touch to the room.
