Murphy Sofa by Cattelan Italia
The Cattelan Italia Murphy Sofa achieves organic design by using smooth and irregular shapes that are based on shifting desert dunes. Rather than following conventional linear seating, its sculptural form results in a modern sofa which has both a futuristic and naturally expressive appearance. As a modular system, Murphy provides flexible arrangements that can be adapted to various kinds of living spaces, and its unique memory foam backrests can be moved to alter the seat depth and to customise the seating experience.
Why it works in the room
Murphy features sculptural design together with outstanding flexibility, which makes it very suitable for use in rooms where the furniture is meant to be seen from all sides. Since there are no fixed backrests, the seating can be arranged in conventional, double-sided or face-to-face setups, promoting both relaxation and conversation. The supportive backrests, which are made from memory foam, are enhanced by soft cushions filled with down, thus providing a pleasant contrast between firm support and soft comfort.
For Cyprus interiors
When it comes to decorating the interiors of Cyprus, Murphy provides a special way of furnishing large open-plan areas, balancing both flexibility and visual appeal. The smooth, flowing shape brings a softer, more organic touch to modern villas and houses designed by architects, and the use of freestanding setups allows the sofa to establish various seating areas without disrupting the open nature of the room. Furthermore, the adjustable backrests and the arrangement that works on both sides also make the Murphy range very attractive for luxury hospitality lounges and for refined residential interiors in which comfort, social interaction and individual expression all play a role in the living experience.
