Orsola Sofa by Tacchini
The Orsola Sofa, designed by Gastone Rinaldi in 1970, combines the rounded shapes characteristic of Italian modernism with a unique chrome metal frame. It has been reissued in a way that respects the original design and includes generous volumes for both seat and backrest, contrasting with the neat lines of its visible frame. The upholstery, which is made by hand, helps to maintain the original sofa’s character, while the improved padding increases comfort for use in modern homes. The end result is a sofa that achieves a balance between retro elegance and a friendly, up-to-date atmosphere.
Why it works in the room
Orsola is especially appropriate for use in interior spaces in which bold shapes and contrasting materials produce a visually engaging effect; the curved seating fabric makes the sofa appear soft and welcoming, while the chrome frame acts as a precise architectural feature. The fact that this balance enables the sofa to stand out without appearing excessively decorated is the reason why it is suitable for living rooms, for small seating arrangements, and for lounge areas that have a strong design focus when both comfort and character are important.
For Cyprus interiors
In Cyprus the Orsola Sofa is suitable for modern apartments, villas and for residential or hospitality interiors that have been professionally designed. The sofa’s soft seating and its reflective metal finish go well with interiors which include natural stone, glass and warm wood. When placed in a bright living room or in a thoughtfully selected lounge it provides a clear mid-century influence at the same time as retaining a refined and contemporary atmosphere.
