Peninsula Console by Cattelan Italia
The Cattelan Italia Peninsula Console removes the distinction between functional furniture and decorative sculpture by means of its unorthodox wall-mounted style. It consists of three metal parts of differing sizes and can be set at either the same or different heights to produce anything from a small console to a long wall-mounted display. Unlike a conventional console which is positioned parallel to the wall, the Peninsula extends into the room so that its special metal structure and craftsmanship are clearly visible.
Why it works in the room
The design of the peninsula offers a great deal of creative freedom and enables the piece to adapt to the size and architectural character of the interior space. A smaller version can provide a useful surface in an entrance or relaxation area, and using several elements can turn a hallway or a long wall into a more expressive architectural feature.
